Merle Wright, The Big T’s paternal grandmother as a pupil at Waimate High School, NZ. c. 1916-18 Photo kindly sent to us by a descendent of friends of the Wright family. Until now, I had only seen one or two photos of my boy-child’s great grandmother, and as an older woman.

  1. πŸ™‚ giggle! At the moment I’m feeling a bit disgruntled with my fellow NZSoSers, and thinking it might be wise not to commit my thoughts to the interweb until I’ve regained whatever sense of perspective I ever had. Will try and put photos on ZB soon though.

  2. Mine too; until about 5th form, when we were allowed to wear those crepe soled shoes that were really popular in the late 70s. I can’t remember what they were called but there were T-bars and suede versions with a seam up the middle. I thought I was sooooo cool, after the horrible black lace-ups I’d had before.
