  1. I guess so; I kind of assume everyone has a swimming costume, but I guess that’s not true for the 1930s. I know the family took holidays at Lake Whakatipu, so perhaps that’s why they had cossies.

    • Thanks Sally. I’m not sure of the provenance of this and other photos from my husband’s family. I was given a CD with lots of images on from an aunt who had scanned them all. I’m the person interested in family history, so I’m slowly becoming the repository of old photos and artifacts.

    • Aren’t they! They were a farming family and everyone pitched in to help, so although they were probably eating a lot of meat and dairy produce, there were also moving a lot – and as you say – no fast or processed food!
