Wordless Wednesday: yet another mystery

Like the last two Wordless Wednesday photos, this one comes from Aunt Dorothy's collection of "unknowns". So many mysteries - so little time!

  1. I hope you realize that you’ve got me hooked on this family tree business. The fascinating thing is that every time you find another piece of the picture, up pops another mystery. It’s like living in one’s own soap opera – but more serious!

    • Thanks and sorry (but not really). It is a bit like a soap – lots of characters that move centre-stage for a while when you make a discovery about them, then recede into the background when the next bit of the search doesn’t bear fruit and there is no more to say about them for a while. But all the time they are lurking about, shaping the big themes and forming a chorus to events in my own life.

The occupational stuff really interests me; and the lives the women led. I know my life is so different to my ancestors and my son’s life even further from theirs. I find myself pointing out the contrasts as much for his benefit as anything.

Anyway; that’s enough of a rave from me. Looking forward to seeing some more African photos — the Rift Valley has been on my bucket list since university, but your photos are moving East Africa steadily toward the top.
